Are you dealing with a labour dispute, a stalled return-to-work process, or difficult collaboration within your organisation? If so, mediation can help you reach a sustainable, workable solution. As an MfN-registered mediator and experienced employment law attorney, I facilitate mediations with parties from a wide range of industries—at the executive level, within teams, or with HR. I am attentive to the interests of all parties and work out of ’s-Hertogenbosch or on-site elsewhere in the Netherlands.
In mediation, the participants themselves determine what they want to discuss and what the outcome will be. However, the path to a solution is fraught with obstacles and sensitivities that the parties cannot resolve on their own. As a mediator, I create a foundation that allows the parties to engage in constructive dialogue and gain insight into each other’s interests, with the ultimate goal of charting a viable path forward.
My approach is characterised by a neutral, open, and balanced attitude. I connect with the parties and provide space for dialogue and emotion. The parties feel heard because I listen actively, connect with their stories, and stay attentive to their concerns, emotions, and interests. My style is described as empathetic, curious, understanding, friendly, and calm.
As an attorney, I assist companies, self-employed individuals, and employees in labour disputes, reorganisations, advisory processes, and during legal proceedings. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience with labour disputes across a wide range of organisations and levels. I have also frequently participated in employment mediation processes as an advisor to one of the parties, which allows me to effectively respond to the dynamics of mediation when advisors are present.
As a mediator with a background in the legal profession, I have a keen understanding of the underlying interests of the parties and can effectively guide them toward a realistic solution.
After completing my law degree at Erasmus University (Master’s in Business Law and Private Law), I completed the Postgraduate Program in Labour Law (PALA). I have now been practising as an attorney specialising in labour law for nearly 20 years (in Rotterdam and ’s-Hertogenbosch).
I have held various board positions, take courses in labour law, and participate in peer review sessions as both a lawyer and a mediator. This allows me to deepen my legal knowledge, develop new insights and skills, and effectively assess whether a mediation process is moving in the right direction, resulting in a workable solution.
An employment dispute requires a swift, expert approach, and sometimes a single conversation is enough to determine the best course of action.
