Niek Peters specialises in (international) arbitration and private international law. He works in the civil litigation practice.
Niek graduated from the Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2004, after which he worked for an international law firm in Amsterdam, focusing in particular on corporate-law and contractual disputes, and for an international niche firm in Brussels, Belgium, that specialises in international arbitration.
Niek has gained a great deal of experience as a lawyer in Dutch and international arbitration (NAI, UNCITRAL, ICC, LCIA, CEPANI). He also regularly handles cases related to arbitration before the national court, including proceedings regarding the enforcement or annulment of arbitral awards. Niek is also an associate professor at the University of Groningen, where he lectures on the course International Commercial Dispute Settlement Law, and a guest lecturer at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he lectures on arbitration. Niek publishes in the field of private international law.
