Matthijs Steenpoorte studied law at Radboud University Nijmegen, following his completion of the Management, Economics and Law (MER) programme. Since 2006 Matthijs has been working as a lawyer with BANNING as a member of the Insolvency Law & Restructuring practice group. His work mainly involves acting for companies in difficulties, where he also assists directors and supervisory directors in proceedings involving directors’ and officers’ liability, as well as companies and directors in restructuring processes. Matthijs regularly acts as liquidator and receiver and handles other insolvency-related issues, such as in litigation and debt-collection practice as well as matters pertaining to the law of property and the law of obligations.
